Dewey Earl Sowell Jr., 65, of Bloomington, died on Sunday at Bloomington Hospital surrounded by his family.
Dewey was born June 20, 1944 in Memphis, Tennessee and was the son of Dewey E. Sowell Sr. and Connie Sowell. He was the owner and operator of Dewey’s Marathon for twenty years and also was a manager at Coca Cola for 20 years. After retirement from Coca Cola he worked part time at Orscheln Farm Supply. He loved to buy and sell cars and bought his last car just a few weeks ago.
Survivors include his wife Connie (Duncan) Sowell of Bloomington, three daughters, Jodi Skirvin and her husband Mark of Unionville, Julie Sowell and Joni Sowell both of Bloomington, 10 grandchildren Matthew, Megan, Cody, Katie, Cole, Shelby, Jon, Jim, Ben, Arianna and Allen and two sisters Virginia Pezzin of Dana Point, California and Bobbie Jean Farinacci of Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania.
He was preceded in death by his parents
Visitation will be Friday May 7th from 4-8pm at The Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard, 3000 E. Third Street, Bloomington.
Services will be 11AM Saturday at The Funeral Chapel with Tim Moran officiating. Burial will follow at Valhalla Memory Gardens.

Just know how very sorry I am for you all...Connie,I KNOW that Dewey was EVERYTHING to you... and he knew how good you were to him... and how much you cared about making his life easier and better...I only wish that I had been informed in time to had been there.Girls, take good care of your Mom... I know that that is what your Dad wouldv'e wanted. I'm sending my love and prayers...

It has been a very long tim. As others have stated when the Marathon closed we lost touch with Dewey and you. I send my deepest sympathies to you and your family.
