Cleora Winifred (Galyan) Ludwig Asher Cleora Winifred (Galyan) Ludwig Asher, 91, of Bloomington, died on Thursday July 1, 2010 at Monroe Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Cleora was born on September 18, 1918 in Monroe County and was the daughter of Hubert and Mary (Kent) Galyan. She was a graduate of Unionville High School and worked for more than 30 years at Indiana University Dining Services. She honed her skills as a cook while working at Indiana University. Something she proudly stated on several occasions. Her family was the fortunate recipients of those skills, as she was especially known for her made-from-scratch pies, creamy mashed potatoes, and peanut butter fudge. Prior to that, she had also worked at Woolworths and R.C.A. She was a life-long member of The Church of Christ attending Locust Grove and Hillside Dr. Oft times you would find her reading the bible. She always carried a small one in her purse and would read it whenever she waited for an appointment, for a ride, or just needed the comfort of His word. Her passion was quilt making. Over the years she had made each of her grandkids, nieces, and nephews, and many other friends and family members, one of their own. Many different designs, styles, colors and sizes, but one common theme…love. Cleora loved her family. Survivors include one daughter Linda (Ludwig) Stephen (Tony) of Bloomington and one son Thomas L. Ludwig (Wanda) of Whitehall, sisters Wilma Galyan Robinson (Keith), Edna “Becky” Galyan Adams (Bill), Olive Galyan Lovejoy (Charles) and brother Homer Galyan (Barbara). She is also survived by five grandchildren, Randy Stephen (Hiedi), Rick Stephen, Sheila Stephen-Bruce (Perry), Dennis Ludwig, and Ryan Ludwig, 8 great grandchildren , Lance Stephen, Amber Stephen, Sage Stephen (Courtney), Blake Ludwig, Garrett Bruce, Griffin Bruce, Cody Prince, Cami Prince and Cali Prince, and two great great grandchildren, Kiana Carver and Kamren Carver. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Lawrence Ludwig and Walter C. Asher, a daughter Mary Audrey (Ludwig) Bastin, infant son James Lawrence Ludwig, son-in-law David H. Bastin and siblings Venna Mae Galyan (infant), Alicy Belle Galyan (infant), Joseph Galyan (infant), Alice (Galyan) Mathis, and Emma (Galyan) McDaniel. Visitation will be on Monday July 5, 2010 from 4-8 pm at The Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard, 3000 E. Third St. Bloomington. Services will be 2:00pm Tuesday July 6, 2010 at The Funeral Chapel with Brother Steve Watts and Brother Joe Hamm officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Gilead Cemetery.
