Nancy Lea (Johnson) Owens, 81, of Bloomington passed away on Wednesday May 23, 2012 at Meadowood Health Pavilion surrounded by her loving family. Nancy was born July 14, 1930 in Kokomo, Indiana and was the daughter of Royce and Mabel (Pittman) Johnson.
Nancy was a 1948 graduate of Bloomington High School and was married to James E. (Jimmy) Owens on July 13, 1951. Nancy and Jimmy were very active in the Bloomington community and in the lives of their children and grandchildren.
Nancy was a member of the Navajo Club and belonged to various other organizations over the years including Tri Kappa, Bloomington Country Club, various bridge clubs and served as a Pink Lady at Bloomington Hospital. She was an avid cook, entertainer and enjoyed golf.
Survivors include her son Scott Owens of Bloomington, daughter Pam Williams (Jim) of Mt. Vernon, Iowa. Two granddaughters Delanie Hurst of Bloomington and Emily Hurst (Scott Zahner) and one great granddaughter Claudia Zahner of Iowa City, Iowa also survive.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jimmy Owens (1996), sister Bettie (Lemon) Silverstein and brother Raymond Johnson.
Graveside services will be Saturday May 26, 2012 at 10:30 am at Valhalla Memory Gardens.
Visitation for Nancy will be Friday May 25, 2012 from 4-8 pm at The Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard, 3000 E. Third Street, Bloomington.
