Chesley C. Wright, 93, of Bloomington passed away Sunday, August 12, 2012 at Garden Villa.
Born October 17, 1918 in Monroe County, he was the son of Paris and Roxie (Hardisty) Wright.
Chesley was an U.S. Army Veteran of WWII serving in India, China and Burma. While stationed in India President Harry Truman presented Chesley with the Presidents Citation for performing above and beyond the call of duty.
He was an accountant at Indiana University for 38 years and he attended the Grace Baptist Temple.
Chesley was a member of the Stanford Masonic Lodge #173 and a past Worshipful Master. He was also a member of the Eastern Star #533 in Stanford.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Martha J. (Myers) Wright, one son, Stephen Wright (Debbie) of Bedford, four grandchildren, Stephen Wright Jr. (Kara), Joshua Wright, Nathan Wright, Stephanie Wright, two great-grandchildren, Joshua Nathan Wright, Jenna Rose Wright, one sister, Bea Hudson (Charles) of Indianapolis, several nieces and nephews.
Services will be 1:00pm Thursday, August 16, 2012 at The Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard, 3000 E. Third St. in Bloomington. Pastor Lyman Taylor.
Visitation will be 5-7pm Wednesday at The Funeral Chapel with a Masonic Service at 7:00pm. Visitation will also be 12-1pm Thursday. Entombment will be at Valhalla Memory Gardens.
