In Memory Of
10/26/1927 - 12/10/2009
On December 10, 2009, Nancy Dobson Grossman Anderson passed away peacefully in her home. She enjoyed 82 wonderful years before a brief illness ended her life - something she described as “ graduating.” Nancy summed up her life simply: the good daughter of Gladys and Frank Dobson; the loyal sister of Evelyn Reed and Ellen Schmidt; the devoted wife of two fine men, Rex Grossman and Bob Anderson; the loving mother of her children, Jill, Dan and Dobby Grossman and step-son Craig Anderson. She was the proud grandmother of ten and the amazed great-grandmother of nine.
Nancy was a graduate of University High School and Indiana University. She was a founding member of the Bloomington Boys Club Auxiliary, a member of Psi Iota XI philanthropic sorority, and a Golden Arrow of Pi Beta Phi sorority. Over many decades, she was a member of First United Methodist Church, where she was married, her children were christened and confirmed and where her family celebrated weddings and gathered over memorial services. Nancy was a Republican precinct committeewoman and Indiana State Convention delegate, a member of Navajo Club and the Bloomington Women’s Club, and a community volunteer for Meals on Wheels and many other good causes.
One of her greatest joys was following sports. Nancy was a spectator extraordinaire from T-ball games at Bryan Park, to swim meets at the Bloomington Country Club and the I.U. Natatorium. She enjoyed soccer and hockey games, state high school football championships, Arabian horse shows, baseball at Wrigley Field, professional golf tournaments and Super Bowls.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Bloomington Boys and Girls Club and the First United Methodist Church. Visitation will be at The Funeral Chapel of Powell, Deckard and Costin, 3000 E. Third St., Bloomington, IN 47401, on Sunday December 13 between 5 and 8 p.m. and from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the funeral service. The funeral service will also be at The Funeral Chapel on Monday, December 14 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Joe Emerson officiating. Burial will follow at Valhalla Memory Gardens. The family would like to thank Dr. Colin Chang for his kindness and Eldercare for their thoughtful services.

I never met your mom but I can see where you guys get your good looks.
My thought's and prayer's are with you at this hard time in your life.
You are all in our thoughts and prayers. Nano was one of the most delightful, classy women we have ever had the privilege of knowing. We can only imagine the void that has been created in your lives, especially during the holiday season. We hope that all of your wonderful memories of her will help you all to find strengh in what remains behind. May God Bless all of you.
Fondly,
Doug and Dianne Crusan and family
Very sad to hear about the loss of your mom. I only met her once but she was a fine lady. Hope that you know that your friends mourn the loss as well. We will pray for your family in this sad time.
Your old friends, Robert & Nancy Jones
Nano was so incredibly special and like a second mother to me....many of us are very grateful to have been influenced by her joy and spirit. Nano really knew how to have fun and enjoy life!!! Just one example was when Nano and mom watched Nanos' car catch on fire in front of the house on Windfield Road laughing hysterically before they called the fire department as Nano wanted a new car.....the response from your dad was priceless. The memories are many and always end in a smile. Nano has left an incredible legacy....you and your families. So many of us truly loved your mom....the Jones gang from Cape Cod sends our hugs.

I remember your mom and dad from way way back with very wonderful memories of smiling, friendly and beautiful people. I also have many pictures (which I saved from my parent's collection) of them. I know it is a rough time for you and I just wanted to let you know that you are in my, Mary Susan's and Bill's thoughts and prayers.
